DEVOLUTION, Why Intelligent Design Isn't, The New Yorker, May 30, 2005

The school board of Dover, PA mandated teaching ID along with evolution. This very fine and thorough article on the subject, from Salon.com, January 10, 2005, is well worth reading.

The Texas Board of Education has been under intense pressure to include Intelligent Design in its biology textbooks. As the second most populous state in the union, that decision would effect textbooks that are used in many other states.

ID proponents have been active in other states as well. The New Mexico state board was under pressure to adopt ID, but they resisted and voted to emphasize evolution, but not ID.

Two Michigan state legislators are supporting a law to allow ID to be taught alongside evolution in the state's science classes.

From the York Daily Record, October 19, 2004:

The Dover Area School Board voted to add "Intelligent Design Theory" to the district's biology curriculum Monday evening just two weeks after Supt. Richard Nilsen assured former board member Lonnie Langione that wouldn't happen.

From the New York Times, Saturday, November 21, 2004:

A Pennsylvania school district Friday defended its decision to discount Charles Darwin's theory of evolution and teach what critics say is a version of creationism.
